LATEST ART: Something traditional and 4 chess cartoons
July 5, 2008
I was worried that after half a year of working with nothing but Photoshop, I'd have forgotten how to move a pencil in real life, but happily that turned out not to be the case. I actually feel more comfortable overall drawing with pens than I did at the beginning of the year, so I guess all the tablet work hasn't been useless. A friend had a babyshower, so I made a drawing to give her an idea of what her son might look like before he's born! Notice the white Knight in the details, and also a judo-gi. The Knight is because I want to enforce chess on everything, and the gi is because his father is a top-level Danish martial artist. The rest of the stuff is just flowers, trains (?) and hearts.
In the Miscellaneous gallery!

I've had some development in my chess cartoon style. It's interesting to compare the first ones (drawn nearly a year ago) with the last ones. Maybe one day they'll even look good!

....
Next up in the chess portrait series is good old Vlad. Vladimir Kramnik! I began the drawing today, so lets see when it's finished. I've taken up some new hobbies for summer entertainment: gardening and yoga, and feel guilty about drawing when the sun is shining, but right now there's coverage of the Dortmund tournament which INVITES comp-time. And weather forecasts next week say there'll be a bit of rain, so who knows...
For those of you who've read the book "The Chess Artist" by J. C. Hallman, I might be doing an illustration from that in the coming months. How interesting!
LATEST ART: Peter Heine Nielsen and six cartoons
June 20, 2008
After a small delay caused by good weather, portrait number 4 is now finished! The pieces became metallic instead of rainbowcoloured, but I decided since the subject is a grown man he'd probably prefer that to the "creative" ones I originally had in mind. Hahaha.
Look for it in the chess gallery:

Also finished are six (6) new chess cartoons!? I can't believe how productive I've been.

....
I've been watching a lot of games lately, and the inspiration I get from that is very nice. School semester was just finished, so I have summer holidays now which means a lot of free time to do a lot of fun and instructive things. Untill I get a job. :)
Ps. I love you all!
LATEST ART: A couple of chess cartoons
May 29 , 2008
So, now the galleries are filled up and I can't think of anything immediate that needs fixing (the unimmediate things can wait for some convenient time :)), so I CAN GET BACK TO DRAWING! I actually didn't plan to begin again so soon, with school and whatnot, but I gave into my compulsions a few days ago and started the continuation in my chess series, this time one of Denmark's very own noble GMs. It was SO nice to be drawing again, with all the html, css and php stuff I've been looking at for a long time now, I had almost forgotten what the tablet pen feels like in my hand. ;) Bliss!
Here's a preview, which you can make of what you will (lol, yes, they're going to be rainbowcoloured pieces <3):

Besides that, I've completed a few more chess cartoons, with strong ICC inspiration::

....
Check back in two weeks or so, when I expect to have my fourth chess player portrait done! In the meantime, have fun browsing the now complete galleries!
LATEST ART: A single Pawn (and Knight)
May 15 , 2008
Yay, I've finally completed the major work in rebuilding the site! All sections are now sort of finished. I say sort of because in theory I should be cleaning up my code because I've realized how to make it better, but, well, it'll probably be a while before I rebuild the site AGAIN from scratch and get to do everything in smart ways (lol). In the meantime, this will do!
I'll fill up the galleries with the missing drawings as soon as... possible. For now, there's ONE new piece! The front page Pawn - isn't she lucky, she's stepping on a queening square? Actually, the drawing isn't finished, so there may be a version 2 when I have the time to draw again. I also meant to animate it, but I haven't had time for that (exam coming up). Not drawing for 1½ months = vivid, colourful dreams and everything in nature that's touched by summer is sickly inspiring because of my creative overdrive, but I guess if that's the worst that happens from not drawing, I can stick out a little longer, because it's not all that unpleasant + it's an ideal time to gather ideas for future work.
I've evolved my chess cartoon style a bit, a preview (the cartoon is in Cartoons gallery, the Pawn in Chess):

.......
I don't know what she's looking at? A victim King? That's it for now, take care everybody!
LATEST ART: More chess portraits!
March 16 , 2008
Okay, 2 new drawings added. The first, err.. is a Fischer drawing that was basically a pain in the ass for me, and is put into the Miscellaneous section for not being perfect. The other is my real continuation in the chess series, Hikaru Nakamura, aka. Transwarp's worst enemy at ICC! It was a great time drawing this one, because I had the guidance I lacked with the second Fischer drawing, so I could spend my energy going into detail instead of worrying about composition every day. I'm going to play in the Danish Championship tomorrow, so it will be a while before I have another new update, I think. Especially since I'm learning to spend 3 times as long on a picture than I used to. Oh, btw it's now possible to buy prints of my work at deviantart.com. Go to the 'Artist' section for a link to that.

Edit: A new chess cartoon added!: 28/3: And another!:

4/4 Note: The website is under construction these days. :)

LATEST ART: Snow Maid And Fire Mage (and Pawn)
November 20 , 2007
I've submitted my fire mage entry below to a Warhammer Online contest, lets hope I win! The other new picture is yet another chess Queen, although the crown is a bit more suble on this one, I think I'll try harder to figure out how decent headdecoration is made. Lastly is a promotion illustration. Fire mage in Miscellaneous section, the other ones in Chess.

LATEST ART: Chess Concept Cartoons
October 12 , 2007
I've been doing a lot of chess cartoons at the forum chessvideos.tv lately, and I guess it's time I put them here. I'm hoping that once I have enough, I'll start to work with them in Photoshop, using them as skeletons for "real" cartoons/drawings. However, I really have a lot to learn when it comes to making cartoons, and I'm still lurking at deviantart.com for techniques used by those who have mastered the art of precise concept drawing. I'm thinking that when I figure out how I want to draw in 2d, then I'll be all ready and set to go. Untill then, we'll stick with 5 minutes impulsive drawings, that just get the message across clear and with no nonsense. (One might argue that all the work I've done in this category is nonsense though, but I assure you, I'm not into hash and I AM NOT crazy! Really!!!)Small preview here, check them out in the Chess Gallery where I've gathered them on one page.
