France

Playing a Romanian girl in France, at either a World or European Champtionship. What's up with the nearly identical shirts?

It's hard to say when I first picked up a pencil and started drawing, but chess began when I was 6. I had probably been drawing for years by then, so that explains why it remains my favourite and most loved hobby. I got into chess because my brother started playing and me and my older sister were invited to join in the fun. I played for the next 8 years and got to travel alot because of the international tournaments. I then quit when I was 14. I missed the game for 6 years, and then took it up again the summer of 2007. I guess it's a longterm addiction!

At the board

Can anyone tell what's going on at the board? I hope my brother's winning? He's the boy I'm sitting next to.

I live in Denmark, Copenhagen, but with a Finnish mother I'm only half Danish. ;) Name: Carina Jørgensen. Date of birth: 11/02/1987.

A road leading deeper into the city. Notice how they're made for bikes!

The roads are like the pride of Denmark. A third of the population bikes to work every day. Government wishes to make that a half of the population by 2012. Denmark is a pretty cool country - we have low corruption and a sophisticated wellfare system. I don't hope anyone has heard of the Youthhouse people, though! They recently breached the proud democracy, took civil war to the nice streets, burned the bikes and embarrased DK internationally, but I guess noone's perfect.. especially not a whole country, huh?

Just because the vegetation is pretty and I ride here every day. Look at those colours!

I've trained different martial arts, giving each a couple of years: karate, wing tsun, then mixed martial arts with an emphasis on brazillian jiu-jitsu. Later, after a break, that turned to weight training and running, but I must admit there's something special about martial arts that no other teamsport or type of training provides. It's the same way with chess - no other game is so awesomely waaaaaaaarlike.

At the gym where I switched from wing tsun to mixed martial arts, around age 16 or so. Still my gym.

Check out www.csa.dk if you're in Denmark and looking for a place to train. ;)

Another significant hobby I've kept, is reading, books in the genres of: fantasy, sci-fi, philosophy and spiritual psychology. Here's a sample of my favourite books:

It's hard to predict the future, but I want to balance chess, drawing and martial arts in it, since previously one would dominate and take all the time from the others, which is disruptive to the mind/body/soul balance. Ideally, I'll be doing all three things every day! It's not too much to strive for, as long as I'm in school and stay away from full-time jobs which are a real killer to hobbies! Currently, I don't even have a part-time job and am enjoying my freedom. I'm studying at a Multimedia Design school instead. :) When I have a bachelor from that, I'll move on to University and would eventually like to work with graphics/art in computer games.

I think it's unlikely that life doesn't end up changing my plans though, so I prefer not to make them. ;)
